We all give different meanings to situations and see things from different points of view.

Sometimes it can be useful to broaden your perspective and consider the bigger picture. This is known as taking a “helicopter view”. If you find yourself becoming too emotionally involved in a situation, try asking yourself these questions and see if they give you a different perspective:

🚁 what am I reacting to? What meaning am I giving to this situation?

🚁 how would this seem to someone outside the situation?

🚁 is there another way of looking at this?

🚁 what would I say to a friend who was struggling with this?

🚁 how important will this be in a year’s time?

🚁 what’s the one thing I can do right now that will help this situation the most?
