Mindfulness is the ability to be present and fully engaged in whatever we’re doing at that moment.⠀
⠀
It means holding an awareness of our thoughts, feelings, body sensations and environment in a way which is accepting, non-judgemental and non-reactive. ⠀

🚫Mindfulness is NOT meditation⠀
⠀
🚫Mindfulness is NOT about relaxation or rest (but it can be!)⠀
⠀
🚫Mindfulness is NOT the ability to “control” or “get rid of” certain thoughts or feelings. ⠀

🚫Mindfulness is NOT only for when you’re feeling stressed.⠀

There is a significant evidence-base suggesting that practicing mindfulness is associated with a whole host of physical and mental health benefits but, generally speaking, mindfulness helps us develop the skills to:⠀
⠀
✅Notice and enjoy when things are going well and hold an awareness of what might have contributed to this. ⠀
⠀
✅Build an awareness of when we are beginning to struggle in certain areas and implement a helpful strategy to keep on track. ⠀
⠀
✅Recognise when we are feeling overwhelmed and utilise our coping skills effectively. ⠀
⠀
Although these skills may seem simple – they are the foundation of developing a lifestyle which is conducive to good mental and physical health 😊.
